Sony’s fastest-selling titles continue to exceed expectations. Today, Santa Monica Studios revealed last year’s God of War Ragnarökhas sold through 11 million copies. The sequel was in doubt to sell massive numbers given the level of hype and buzz surrounding the title.
At launch, God of War Ragnarök sold 5.1 million copies, leading it to become the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation title.

To put it into perspective, God of War took a full year to hit 10 million copies sold. Considering God of War Ragnarök exceeded the sales figure in under three months is beyond impressive. The entire series sold 23 million copies since its inception and continues to break records for the studio and the publisher.
In the spring, God of War Ragnarök is getting a New Game+ mode. The series is also being made for television on Prime Video. Needless to say, it seems the consensus is people love Kratos and his son Atreus. We even named last year’s conclusion to the Norse saga as Game of the Year due to its accessibility options, story, music, performances, and story arc.
