In a new report by Deadline, Sony’s upcoming film adaptation of Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima has found its screenwriter.
The film’s screenplay will be written by Takashi Doscher, who has previously written and directed smaller films such as Only (2019), and Still.
Doscher’s most recent screenplay, Blue is a twist on the Japanese monster movie genre and is currently in development as the Russo Brother’s AGBO and MGM.
Ghost of Tsushima launched back in July 2020 for PS4 and was released a year later for PS5. The game has since gone on to sell 8 million copies as of this past January.
The game tells the story of a samurai warrior Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan, who must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima
The film is set to be directed by Chad Stahelski, who directed the John Wick film. Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz will be producing through their 87Eleven Entertainment.
Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions along with some of the team at Sucker Punch will serve as executive producers on the film.
No release date has been announced but the project is said to be in early development.
