Ghost of Tsushima‘s next update is its biggest yet as version 1.1 includes the previously teased Legends multiplayer mode.
Sucker Punch confirmed the news today via a post on the PlayStation Blog and confirmed that the highly-anticipated multiplayer mode, and also New Game + would arrive in October.
In Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you and your friends can fight side-by-side in classic and iconic samurai fashion. The goal behind Legends is to envoke the samurai fantasy in a new and exciting way. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends features two-player story missions and four-player survival missions, as well as a Raid that is set to arrive post-launch.
Version 1.1 includes a new character found in the various towns and across Tsushima, Gyozen the Storyteller. Gyozen knows of the Ghost of Tsushima but he’s also heard of others picking up and fighting for the cause. “Gyozen is the author and gatekeeper of the stories you’ll find in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and when you talk to him, he’ll be happy to share one of his transportative stories about the “Ghosts.”
Multiplayer includes several classes and you’ll be able to pick between them as each has its own unique advantages. Those classes are Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin.
With missions designed around two and four players, you’ll tackle those and earn the option to replay those missions with higher difficulty levels, new encounters, tougher enemies, objectives and rewards.
The single-player campaign comes with some changes as well. Sucker Punch is launching a New Game + mode that allows you to keep “all of the Techniques, Gear, and Vanity items obtained in a previous playthrough, and difficulty will be increased to provide a new challenge.”
There are new charms, new saddles an additional upgrades for your weapons. There’s also a new merchant, the Ghost Flower Merchant.
Sucker Punch confirms the Ghost Flower is exclusive to New Game + and is accepted by the new merchant found in Ariake. You can exchange these flowers for new armour dyes and other vanity gear only found in New Game+, featuring much more elaborate designs found in the first playthrough.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends launches on October 16, 2020.
