The original Gears of War launched in 2006 and returns in 2025, with the core experience now available on more platforms for a new generation. The Coalition is working with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief on the remaster, which is set to launch at USD$39.99/CAD$54.99.
Gears of War: Reloaded contains all content from Ultimate Edition and provides immediate access to all post-launch content, including the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression.
The Coalition says Reloaded was built for shared play, so whether you’re playing in split-screen or online, the campaign supports your choice of play. The campaign supports two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer supports up to eight players with cross-play on all platforms.
A Microsoft account unlocks full cross-platform functionality and enables cross-progression, so campaign and multiplayer progress moves across devices. It also allows you to send invites and play with friends across platforms.

Lastly, Reloaded will be a free upgrade for players who owned Gears of War Ultimate Edition before today’s announcement. A code will be delivered via direct message prior to launch.
The remaster is coming to Xbox Series, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5 and Steam on August 26, 2025.
