Everything Revealed At Nintendo Direct For September 2023

Today is an event-packed day, but we are starting the day off right with a full recap of this morning’s Nintendo Direct. Nintendo’s game showcase was announced just yesterday morning after rumours that Nintendo would give us one more Nintendo Direct before the ever-busy fall season officially kicks off for the company. At the time, Nintendo stated on Twitter that this direct would be roughly 40 minutes of information focused on Nintendo Switch games set to release this winter

Now let’s get into it, these are all the games that were showcased during this Nintendo Direct for September 14th, 2023. As always the recap will not just feature the game itself but a good look at it in trailers, a release date or a window for each game we learn about, and a small write-up of what was shown. Now let’s dive in!

Splatoon 3 Expansion: Side Order (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Spring 2024

Kicking off this September edition of the Nintendo Direct is some Splatoon 3 action with a look at the upcoming expansion, Side Order which plays from the perspective of Pearl as she climbs the Spiral of Order and faces off a horde of enemies in this action RPG-like expansion campaign while strengthening her load out over time. Splatoon 3: Side Order is a part of the expansion pass on the Nintendo Switch title which is set to release sometime in spring next year.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: February 16th, 2024

The classic rivalry that started it all is back in a refreshed take of Mario vs. Donkey Kong as our tie-wearing primate has stolen all the mini Mario toys from the factory and it is up to Mario to track him down. Each stage will challenge players to observe and find the solution to complete the stage with strategy and the game’s mechanics as you face Donkey Kong head-on. Mario vs. Donkey Kong is set to launch  next year for Nintendo Switch on February 16th

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: January 18th, 2024

We got another look at Ubisoft Original, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown as players guide protagonist Sargon to save the Prince of Persia when it launches on Nintendo Switch on January 18th.

Horizon Chase 2 (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: Available Now

Get your crew together and embark on this new trip around the World with the classic signature high-speed arcade gameplay within a dynamic environment, unique art style, thrilling soundtrack and online gameplay in Horizon Chase 2 which launches today on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

 

Super Crazy Rhythm Castle (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: November 14th

Time your button pressing to the musical you solve puzzles and battle bosses in Super Crazy Rhythm Castle which is set to feature over 30 thrilling tracks with four of those songs coming from classic Konami games! Super Crazy Rhythm Castle will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 14th.

 

SpyxAnna: Operation Memories (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: TBA 2024

SpyxFamily fans lookout as we have a new game from the hit anime series as you play as Anna in her daily life as she aims to complete her photo diary homework. As you embark on this journey you will create treasured memories with not just her foster parents, Loid and Yor but other characters from the series too. Play unique mini-games to get cute costumes, and add color to your memories by dressing up characters in your style.

Super Mario RPG (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: November 17th

Up next we got another look at the anticipated remake of Super Mario RPG as we dive into gameplay features and post-game content of replaying boss fights but players beware as this replay encounter won’t be as easy as the first. Super Mario RPG is set to launch this holiday season on November 17th.

Another Code: Recollection (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: January 19th, 2024

Kind of s surprising announcement as Nintendo has announced that the DS game, Trace Memory is returning as a remake under a new name, Another Code: Two Memories. Play as Ashely, a young girl who receives a letter from her thought-to-be deceased father – to find answers she embarks for the SOlidary Blood Edward Island to search for him. Players will encounter puzzles stopping her progress and even run into a ghost of a boy. This isn’t a standalone release as this remake is a part of a collection which also comes with the sequel Another Code: R which was originally released on the Wii and never was released in the West.

Princess Peach: Showtime! (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: March 22nd, 2024

That Princess Peach game we heard from the last Nintendo Direct finally has not just a name but a date. Princess Peach: Showtime! will see players play as the iconic Nintendo princess in her standalone adventure as she attends the Sparkle Theater alongside some toads. The performance is interrupted by Wicked Grape and her Sour Budge stealing the center stage but Princess Peach and the theatre’s guardian, Stella will put a stop to it as you use Stella’s ribbon to combat enemies on stage.

Peach’s ribbon won’t cut it through he whole game as Peach can transform into different costumes and gain new abilities including swordfighter Peach, Detective Peach, Patissierpeach, Kung-fu Peach, and many more forms for Peach to choose from.

SaGa Emerald Beyond (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: TBA 2024

Up next is the latest standalone entry in the SaGa franchise, SaGa Emerald Beyond which brings together the very best elements of the series to offer each player their own unique gameplay experience. Players will travel across 17 mysterious worlds, they will forge their own unique branching stories that unfold based on their very own choices and actions that will lead to multiple endings.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: February 14th, 2024

The original 3 Tomb Raider games are getting a remaster on Nintendo Switch with a refreshed modern art style that will also let players switch to the original pixelated art style. The Tomb Raider remaster is set to launch on February 14th, 2024.

Detective Pikachu: Returns (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: October 6th

Unravel a series of mysteries across Ryme City in Detective Pikachu Returns as you play as a tough-talking, coffee-loving Pikachu and his human partner, Tim Goodman as they search for Tim’s father, Harry Goodman. Detective Pikachu Returns is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on October 6th.

 

Trombone Champ (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: Available Now

Honk, blow, and toot your way through over 45 songs in Trombone Champ which let’s you play with up to four players in local multiplayer. The Nintendo Switch version will support multiple control modes: including Tilt, IR Motion Camera and Tilt-Motion. Trombone Champ is now available to play on Nintendo Switch as a shadow drop release.

Battle Crush (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Spring 2024

Experience adrenaline-fueled action with simple, fast-paced gameplay in Batel Crush when it launches on Nintendo Siwtch next year this spring.

 

Wartales (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: Available Now

Lead a group of mercenaries in their search for wealth across a massive medieval universe in Wartales. Players will be able to explore the world, recruit companions, take on contacts, collect bounties and unravel the secrets of the ancient tombs.

 

Contra Operation Galuga (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Early 2024

Contra is getting another reimagining of an NES classic in Contra: Operation Galuga, a collaboration between Konami and Wayforward that features new weapons, enemies, four-player co-op and so much more.  Contra: Operation Galuga will launch on Nintendo Switch sometime early next year.

Unicorn Overlord (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: March 8th, 2024

From Atlus and Vanillaware comes Unicorn Overlord in a campaign that will let players choose from 60 unique characters including humans, elves, beasts, angels, and much more ina self-described rebirth of the tactical fantasy RPG genre when it launches on Nintendo Switch on March 8th.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Summer 2024

We got an idea when the remaster of Luigi’s Mansion 2 is heading to Nintendo Switch as players will able to explore another haunted mansion on Nintendo Switch next summer.

Nintendo has announced the return of F-Zero in the form of a new battle royale game in F-Zero 99 which Nintendo Switch Online players can check out starting today.

Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: TBA 2024

From Lazy Bear, the studio that brought us Graveyard Keeper, comes Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story as players will be able to jump into this delightful crafting RPG set in the League of Legends universe of games..

 

Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: November 1st

Embark on a journey of family, friendship, and magic with friends, Nunu and Willump in Song of Nunu: A League of Legends story. Uncover their past and unlock an extraordinary world in this single-player story adventure game.

WarioWare: Move It! (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: November 3rd

 

We got another look at WarioWare: Move It! and all the mini-games this beloved series is known for when it launches on Nintendo Switch on November 3rd.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: April 23rd

Prepare for a meticulously crafted turn-based JRPG with gorgeous 2D sprites and 3D backgrounds in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Players will be able to set up their ideal party of six characters while choosing from 100 of characters to choose from. You’l also be able to manage your town and recruit companions to gather resources, expand production, and develop new facilities to aid in your campaign.

 

Eastward DLC: Octopia (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Holiday 2023

In this upcoming Eatward DLC, Sam and John return in an all-new country life adventure as farmers in a remote mountainside village. Players will work the land, tend livestock, and cook heartwarming meals while making friends along the way.

 

Wargroove 2 (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: October 5th

 

Wargrove sequel, Wargroove 2 is a console exclusive as players embark on an all-new adventure, filled with unlikely friendships, unknown adversaries, and ugly revenge plots. Wage war against your foes with a cast of new Commanders and utilize their new tiered ‘groove’ ability system to sway the fight in your favour. Design and share maps, cutscenes, and campaigns with easy-to-use editors and in-depth customization tools.

Dave The Diver (Nintendo Switch)

Release Date: October 25th

Dave The Diver is making a splash in its console debut on Nintendo Switch on October 25th.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass Wave 8 (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: Holiday 2023

Next up is a showcase of Mario Kart Deluxe’s final Booster Pass Wave DLC which shows off the last remastered race track from Mario Kart Wii with Wii Daisy Circuit. The final wave DLC also comes with returning characters from the past games in the franchise including Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachette.

Among Us: The Fungle Map (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: October 2023

Among Us developer, Innersloth has announced a new map called The Fungle in  an a nimated short and will release sometime next month.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch)

Release Window: TBA 2024

Probably the biggest mike drop of the whole direct for Paper Mario fans was the announcement that Paper Mario; The Thousand Year Door is getting a proper remaster on Nintendo Switch. The remaster of the Nintendo Gamecube Paper Mario entry is set to launch next year.
