Forspoken

Forspoken Has Been Delayed To January 2023

Square Enix and Luminous Productions have announced that Forspoken has been delayed to early next year. The news comes from the official Twitter account for the game.

The tweet says that “As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023.”

“All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase,” Square Enix goes on to say. “We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey. Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this summer!”

Today’s delay marks the second time Forspoken has shifted release dates. Last year it was revealed the game would launch this past May, before moving out of that month and into October, with Square Enix citing more time needed to polish the experience.

It’s been some time since the initial reveal of the project under the codename Project Athia back in 2020. Since then, we’ve seen enough and I’ve attended a preview for Forspoken that left me excited but also cautious as some of the terms used to describe Ella by the developers were callous.

Forspoken will now launch on January 24, 2023.
