Last year we learned that Netflix was working on Sonic Prime, a new television show produced by Vancouver-based WildBrain.
While up until now the most we’d seen is the show’s logo we now have our first look at the upcoming series which will consist of 24 episodes and premiere sometime in 2022. Revealed in a sizzle reel of upcoming cartoons hitting the streaming platform, we now have our first look and it certainly looks familiar.
Netflix describes Sonic Prime as “a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in Sonic’s hands, and also “a journey of self-discovery and redemption.”
“We want to create a safe and trusted space where your children can relax, play, learn, and explore alongside their favourite characters,” said Netflix Animates Series vice president, John Derderian. “As a father to a four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter, I love seeing the world through my children’s eyes and sharing new experiences together. Sometimes that means having a dance party or solving a puzzle. Sometimes it means curling up together to watch their favourite new show.”
In related news, Sonic Origins will launch on June 23 and will update Sega Genesis classics Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.
