IGN posted a first look at Gotham Knightsthis week, focusing on the newest game from WB Games Montreal. In the video, we look at Batgirl, some of the traversal mechanics the game offers and basic combat.
The video is set during the game’s prologue and we join Batgirl as she picks up a cold case from Batman’s files. In the video, we see the mechanics’ players will use to deduce and solve cases while playing Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood. The four members of the Bat Family will also come as fully fleshed-out characters, creative director Patrick Redding says to IGN.
“It was very important for us that these heroes, our Knights are… They’re already awesome at the start of the game. It’s not a function of them being ineffective as crime fighters, quite the opposite. They are all effectively graduates of the Batman School of Crime Fighting.”
Given at the start of Gotham Knights you’re already an established crime fighter, the rest of the game will lead to creating the best version of each character. Since the four heroes shared similar training, so it makes sense they begin the game similarly.
“We don’t want you to have that moment where one bad guy in an alley with a baseball bat is going to give you a hard time,” says game director Geoff Ellenor. “That said, there are some mini-bosses in the game that are decently strong, and you have to pay attention a little bit in the beginning.”
Gotham Knights is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on October 25.
