Final Fantasy VII Remake Breaks Franchise Records

Did you expect any less from Square Enix’s highly anticipated sequel? Mat Piscatella confirms that Final Fantasy VII Remake sets a new launch month franchise record for the series in both unit and dollar sales. Final Fantasy XV previously held the record which launched in November 2016.

In a tweet earlier this morning, Piscatella who works for the NPD Group, confirmed the news that this was easily the biggest game launch for the Final Fantasy series. In front of Final Fantasy VII Remake is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which round off the top three selling games of the year so far. Piscatella also notes that due to sales in April, Remake skyrocketed to the third spot instantly, making it the best-selling game of 2020 on PlayStation 4.
