Final Fantasy 16 Expansion ‘The Rising Tide’ Launches In April

Two expansions were announced for Final Fantasy 16 last year: Echoes of the Fallen, which launched in December, and The Rising Tide, which will launch on April 18, 2024.

Revealed today, the final piece of DLC for Final Fantasy 16 will cost $25 individually or $33.49 bundled with Echoes of the Fallen.

The Rising Tide will transport players to the previously undiscovered land of Mysidia, located in the northern region of the game’s map. Mysidia has managed to remain untouched by the Blight, the game’s all-consuming plague, and still boasts a beautiful blue sky, which is a welcome change after the muted colours the closing chapters featured.

You may recognize Mysidia, a town used in Final Fantasy 2 and Final Fantasy 4. It was filled with mages and significantly focused on magic users. The city will return in Final Fantasy 16 next month.

The level cap is being raised to level 60 in Story-Focused and Action-Focused Mode and level 110 in Final Fantasy Mode.

Clive gains access to the Eikon of Water, Leviathan, which comes with new powers. This set also includes a new Eikonic Feat called Serpent’s Cry, which enables Clive to summon a sea-spitting serpent that deals precise strikes on enemies from far distances.

Square Enix also teased new endgame content — Kairos Gate, a challenge mode you unlock after completing the base game and The Rising Tide.

Clive heads to a virtual underworld where he takes on waves of enemies. Here, he will use his skills to survive the Kairos Gate. There are 20 stages, each more difficult than the last. Clive must use his abilities to maximize performance in battle, find new materials and weapons to survive, and more.
