Square Enix has announced a new expansion for the incredible Final Fantasy 14, titled Final Fantasy 14: Evercold.
It was announced during the FFXIV Fan Fest Keynote, which showcased the Warrior of Light and company entering a new frozen area. The last major expansion, titled Dawntrail, launched back in 2024. Evercold is set to begin a new story arc, known as “The Godless Realms Saga.” It’s set to release in January 2027.
Alongside the announcement of the new expansion, there were a ton of other announcements, including an incoming new patch that will set up the story towards Evercold, dropping on April 28. New UI enhancements, challenge updates, two new jobs (tank & physical ranger DPS), new job action systems, and a whole lot more will be rolled out leading up to and including Evercold.
There’s even more on the way at Fan Fest in Berlin in July and in Tokyo in October. A Nintendo Switch 2 port was also announced, set to launch this August. A crossover with the hit anime Neon Genesis Evangelion was also announced, with a new alliance raid on the way.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now, with Evercold set to launch in January 2027.
