A Final Fantasy 12 Multiplayer Fan Mod Allows Fans To Play Together

Ivalice Together

While there are multiplayer Final Fantasy games, the mainline games primarily focus on single-player experiences.

A new fan mod for Final Fantasy 12, called Ivalice Together, aims to add multiplayer to the last PlayStation 2-era mainline game, which is the closest the series has felt to an offline MMO.

In the video above, we see gameplay snippets beginning with the Flowering Cactoid Mark, followed by clips of Balthier, Ashe, Penelo, and even Reddas taking on various enemies in locations from the game, including Ozmone Plains, Nam-Yensa Sandsea, Lhusu Mines and more.

As cool as this mod looks, the clip doesn’t provide much detail. How does it work? What are the limitations of this mod?

Mininix, the YouTube channel hosting several videos of the Ivalice Together mod, reveals it’s a free local co-op mod that’s being reverse-engineered to support two players with independent movement, combat menus, targeting, and a shared camera.

It seems like you’ll need Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age to play this mod and a PC. While instructions on how to use the mod are currently unavailable, you can join the mod’s Discord to receive updates.
