The next Far Cry will be the first set in America and will arrive on February 27, 2018, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
We learned a lot today as Ubisoft pulled back the reveal curtain, and got a handful of trailers for some of the new characters.
Far Cry 5 was sparked by a sense of childhood dread. Long before the developers visited Montana or even decided that they wanted to bring Far Cry to the US, the seeds of the game were planted by the existential fear of a childhood in the early ’80s, when the waning days of the Cold War had the world holding its breath for something immense and terrible to happen.
The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal with the support of Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Kiev, Ubisoft Shanghai, and Reflections.
Dan Hay is the creative director, who has previously worked on both Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4.
A first for the series, you choose your gender and skin tone and are a part of a local police task force.
Set in Montana, we’re up against an American Militia run by “The Father,” Joseph Seed who has spent many years establishing their reign as a cult by the name of The Project at Eden’s Gate. The are preparing for the end of days, using their power to recruit people from town to get things done for them.
