One trailer in the sea of trailers we saw during this year’s E3 stood out more than most. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is more than a new take on the battle royale genre.
Revealed during Devolver Digital’s E3 Press Conference, Fall Guys is in development by studio Mediatonic. The premise includes 100 players coming together in “a mad dash through round after round of escalating chaos,” and the trailer confirms that chaos reigns in Fall Guys. The cuteness of the characters, the colour, and the excellent use of Harry Belafonte captured all my interest.
Using inspiration from Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle, the jellybean looking creatures compete for the number one spot. In each round, a handful of players are eliminated through randomly selected games. With fewer players entering the next round each time, games designed for fewer players are mixed into the fray.
No idea on a release date, but Fall Guys is on my radar and I’m hoping we hear more about it soon!
