Summer Game Fest kicked off a weeklong event with several livestreams from publishers and developers working together to showcase hundreds of new video games launching on console and PC. We’ve seen a few incredible showcases this week, and today we’re back with Future of Play.
From the top of the hour, we kicked off with one of the coolest-looking titles of the showcase:
Yasuke: A Lost Descendant
Yasuke: A Lost Descendant is a diverse high speed hack ‘n’ slash action anime game, featuring immersive parkour movement that allows the player to enjoyably traverse the environment and defeat enemies with the playstyle of their choice. This story oriented game will partake you through the trials and tribulations of the protagonist “Tanaka Yasuke” and his mission to end the tyranny over N10N-KOKU, which is currently in the hands of the ODA Clan.
This in-depth story will introduce characters from the past to present, ranging from multiple cultural backgrounds and regions across this new original world.
Atomic Picnic
Future of Play revealed Atomic Picnic: a 4-Player co-op shooter roguelite! Get together with up to 4 friends, defeat hordes of monsters, and upgrade your powers to survive in an anime-style wasteland.
Cavern of Dreams
Embark on a magical quest as Fynn the dragon to rescue your unhatched siblings from the mysterious Cavern of Dreams in this N64-style 3D platformer. Gain new abilities, meet unique characters, solve puzzles, and beware of the mysterious villain.
Rune Fencer Illyia
Traverse a massive, ruined and beautiful world in this intense, atmospheric action platformer. Steal enemy abilities and fight them back with their own runic magic and deadly swordplay, as you attempt to find your lost twin sister in the sunken kingdom of Ithos.

Ritual Night
Social deduction meets rogue-lite with NO player elimination. Through teamwork and betrayal, attempt a ritual to summon Cthulhu. Watch out! Someone is an icky human who wants to sabotage the ritual. After every round, the game evolves, granting potent magic powers to each side to deduce or deceive.

Future of Play showcased Arctic Awakening today. A first-person narrative adventure set in the unforgiving Arctic. Your plane crashed in a storm, leaving only your court-mandated therapy bot for company as you journey to find your co-pilot and uncover the mysteries buried beneath the ice.
REKA
Start your life as an apprentice witch to the legendary Baba Jaga and venture across a mysterious, natural landscape with your companion, chicken-legged cottage. Develop your magical powers, customise your home, craft potions, help or hinder villagers find your way in the world.

Love Shore
Play as Sam or Farah as they attempt to navigate the neon thrills of their cyberpunk city Love Shore, solve murders, fight gods and maybe fall in love.
Demon Spore
Blast your way out of tentacle hell as a failed lab experiment gives birth to a rapidly growing viral horror in this intense action rogue-lite inspired by 80s Monster movies. Use the lab to your advantage and improvise an escape plan before this constantly evolving life form spreads out of control.
