The Game Awards have become the de facto industry even where developers from around the world come together to celebrate the industry and each other. A lot of the excitement behind the show each year centres on the new game reveals, trailers for existing games, and in some cases, shadow drops.
Last year, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduced Sephiroth to the roster at the event, Road 96 was revealed, we got our first glimpse of Perfect Dark, and The Callisto Protocol. BioWare gave us a teaser for the new Dragon Age, Sabre Interactive gave us Evil Dead: The Game and Master Chief came to Fortnite.
The one big change this year is there is a live audience instead of being an all-digital event like last year. Given that the pandemic is still sweeping the planet, it’s nice to see a semblance of normalcy tonight, even if Canadian media is underrepresented as jurors and attendees at The Game Awards.
Starting at 8:00 PM ET, Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards was the talk of the night with tons of game reveals, updates, and awards. Let’s go through the night from the start to the finish.
