During tonight’s livestream of The Game Awards, Nintendo kicked it off with revealing the newest fighter coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate later this month – Sephiroth. Following ARMS representative Min Min and Steve from Minecraft, Cloud’s foil in Final Fantasy VII joins the melee.

Nintendo has had a weird few weeks with the Super Smash Bros community, going so far as to back out of tournaments that used Slippi, a fan mod that adds online multiplayer among other add-ons.

Next, we got a look at Devolver Digital’s next game, Loop Hero. It’s coming to PC next year and it’s a roguelike game with card building.

Century: Age of Ashes was revealed at The Game Awards right after, and it’s got a beta in February. Become a legendary dragon rider and rule the skies in this competitive Free-to-Play team-based shooter where skill is the only thing that separates victors from the fallen!

From Focus Interactive and developer Douze-Dixiemes comes Shady Part of Me. Shady Part of Me sends you on an emotional and dream-like journey, with breathtaking artistic direction and the enthralling voice of Hannah Murray (Game of Thrones, Skins).

As a little girl and her shadow, overcome emotional struggles through surreal dreamscapes across a touching narrative filled with twists and surprises. Both must learn, cooperate and evolve to progress in a poetic journey.

It is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut is coming to Nintendo Switch. It will launch on March 4, 2021. Adventure through a beautiful and troubling world where nothing is as it seems, to confront and conquer your fears. Featuring a deeply moving script by Cornelia Geppert, Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut takes you through a drowned city where light has been submerged in darkness, and metaphorical creatures evoke painful emotions that Kay must face and overcome.

Next, was Tchia from developer Awaceb. A Tropical Open-World adventure. Climb, glide, swim, and sail your boat around a beautiful archipelago in this physics-driven sandbox. Use Tchia’s special ability to take control of any animal or object you can find, and Jam on your fully playable Ukulele. A game inspired by New Caledonia

Road 96 was revealed and it’s looking pretty intense from the trailer.

On this risky road trip to the border, you’ll meet incredible characters, and discover their intertwined stories and secrets in an ever-evolving adventure. But every mile opens up a choice to make. Your decisions will change your adventure, change the people you meet, maybe even change the world. 

The Initiative revealed they are indeed working on a new Perfect Dark game. Game Director Dan Neuburger confirmed it is a reboot of sorts, so don’t go in expecting much continuation from the previous games.

I’m excited to see what the studio delivers with this game, it has a ton of talent from the surrounding area, so we know a lot of the Santa Monica developers from other studios shifted over to The Initiative.

From Glen Schofield comes The Callisto Protocol, a new single-layer survival horror game from the creators of Dead Space. It will launch in 2022.

Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol is a next-generation take on survival horror. The game challenges players to escape the maximum security Black Iron Prison and uncover its terrifying secrets. A blend of horror, action, and immersive storytelling, the game aims to set a new bar for horror in interactive entertainment.

The first of two games from Focus Interactive, Hood: Outlaws & Legends is currently in development at Sumo Digital.

From Fullbright, the studio behind Gone Home and Tacoma, comes their next game Open Roads. The game is published by Annapurna Interactive and features the voice talent of Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever.

“One fine fall day, Tess Devine and her mother Opal discover a cache of old notes and letters carefully stashed away in the attic of their house. Hints of deep-rooted family secrets, decades-old burglaries, a lost treasure somewhere near the Canadian border… What they uncover suggests a much darker mystery, best left well enough alone. We got a look at Crimson Desert from South Korean developer Pearl Abyss.

Crimson Desert is a revolutionary open world action-adventure that combines elements of narrative driven single-player games with online multiplayer functionality. The game is set on the continent of Pywel, a war-torn world with many different territories, cities, cultures and religions. Pywel is a land full of turmoil, with many areas, factions and regions fighting for control. As players progress through the game, events will unfold that will shape the destinies of all involved.

Turtle Rock, the team behind Evolve and Left 4 Dead were at The Game Awards to reveal their new game, Back 4 Blood. You are at the center of a war against the Ridden. These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring what remains of civilization. With humanity’s extinction on the line, it’s up to you and your friends to take the fight to the enemy, eradicate the Ridden, and reclaim the world. The game launches June 22, 2021.

BioWare gave us a teaser for the new Dragon Age game at The Game Awards. It’s been ages since Dragon Age Inquisition so seeing a new entry is exciting.

The world of Dragon Age needs a new hero — someone who can take on the evil forces threatening Thedas. Get a first look at some of the new locations you’ll discover and the factions fighting by your side in the next chapter of Dragon Age.

Ark 2 was revealed tonight and it features Vin Diesel? I don’t know how this happened but it’s in development over at Wildcard. There’s also going to be a new animated series coming and it has a star studded cast that includes Jeffrey Wright, Gerard Butler, Elliot Page, Russell Crowe and more.

Disco Elysium – The Final Cut is coming in March 2021 Disco Elysium – The Final Cut is the definitive edition of the smash-hit RPG. New political vision quests, more characters, and full voice-acting for everyone.

Returnal launches on PS5 March 19, 2021. The release coincides with Housemarque’s 25 anniversary.

In Returnal you get to dive deep into the mind of Selene, an Astra space scout trapped in a hellish loop of endless resurrection while trapped on a hostile planet. The roguelike formula mixed with exploration platformer elements allow for a unique way to explore the planet and continue the battle she is fighting.

Fall Guys Season 3 kicks off on December 15. Season 3 is chock-full of brand new wintery content for the fall guys to collapse into. With seven brand new levels and over 30 new costumes, it really is the most wonderful time of the year.

Evil Dead: The Game was announced tonight and I’ll gladly take any content featuring Ash Williams since the cancellation of Ash vs The Evil Dead. It is currently in development on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and includes co-op and PvP action.

Capcom recently renewed the trademark for Ghosts ‘n Goblins and now we know why – a remake is coming and it is launching on Nintendo Switch on February 25, 2021. Paying homage to Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, the latest entry combines the franchise’s action platforming gameplay with storybook-like graphics and challenging new obstacles. The new entry will once again follow the valiant knight Arthur as he runs, jumps and battles his way through eerie stages set in the Demon Realm, a demonic fantasy world.

I’m hoping we get a remake of Maximo: Ghosts to Glory next.

Capcom also announced Capcom Arcade Stadium which is coming to Nintendo Switch as well. It will launch onw ith 32 action-packed classics, which includes a free download of 1943 – The Battle of Midway – and the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins as a stand-alone add-on.

Next, Microsoft confirmed that Microsoft Flight Simulator would finally arrive on Xbox next summer. In a post on Xbox Wire, the team working on the port iterated that the console version will include the same level of fidelity and all peripherals would work.

Super Meat Boy Forever is coming for us all on the Epic Games Store on December 23rd. This much anticipated sequel also moves the Meat Boy saga forward, as Meat Boy and his partner Bandage Girl have had a child, Nugget, who has unfortunately been kidnapped by the sinister stillborn psychopath, Dr. Fetus.

Super Meat Boy was a massive success that changed my life forever and people had been clamoring for a sequel for ages,” said Team Meat co-founder and programmer Tommy Refenes. “But I didn’t just want to deliver more of the same and call it a day. Meat Boy deserved more than that. I wanted to rebuild Meat Boy from the ground up, in a way that would offer an entirely new experience that still hits all the same kinetic, addictive notes as its predecessor. I know Super Meat Boy Forever took forever to make but we’re confident that it was worth the wait.”

Monster Hunter Rise revealed a new trailer tonight at The Game Awards. The Nintendo Switch exclusive is really shaping up to be an exciting experience from the looks of it.

The video showcases two new monsters, several returning monsters and a new area for players to explore. The new trailer also reveals an early look at the mysterious “Rampage” events that threaten Kamura Village, the game’s primary location.

Be on the lookout for a demo out in January 2021.

Next, Hazelight was on hand as was Josef Fares to talk about their next game, It Takes Two. Play as the clashing couple Cody and May, two humans turned into dolls by a magic spell. Trapped in a fantastical world, they’re reluctantly challenged with saving their fractured relationship by the suave love guru Dr. Hakim. A huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges stand between them and their return to normal.

Among Us developer Inner Sloth was on hand to reveal their new map, the Airship. The studio also won two awards during the broadcast.

Next, we saw the second of two games from Focus Interactive and it is called Evil West. The game is developed by Flying Wild Hog and is set to launch in 2021.

Epic Games and Microsoft are bringing Halo’s protagonist Master Chief to Fortnite. Sure, the news leaked last week but seeing it officially revealed is pretty exciting.

The fate of Bilgewater is in your hands, and looks like you’ve got quite the squad to back you up. Airship Syndicate and Riot are working on Forge’s Ruined King: A League of Legends Story and it set to launch next year

Next up was some exciting Fortnite news!

The classic Halo multiplayer map Blood Gulch will come into rotation tomorrow and on December 16, you can play as Daryl Dixon and Michonne from The Walking Dead.

BioWare gave us a first look at Mass Effect and confirmed the series would continue. Right now, I’m looking forward to the remastered trilogy set to launch next year.
