During tonight’s livestream of The Game Awards, Nintendo kicked it off with revealing the newest fighter coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate later this month – Sephiroth. Following ARMS representative Min Min and Steve from Minecraft, Cloud’s foil in Final Fantasy VII joins the melee.
Nintendo has had a weird few weeks with the Super Smash Bros community, going so far as to back out of tournaments that used Slippi, a fan mod that adds online multiplayer among other add-ons.
Next, we got a look at Devolver Digital’s next game, Loop Hero. It’s coming to PC next year and it’s a roguelike game with card building.

Road 96 was revealed and it’s looking pretty intense from the trailer.

The Initiative revealed they are indeed working on a new Perfect Dark game. Game Director Dan Neuburger confirmed it is a reboot of sorts, so don’t go in expecting much continuation from the previous games.
I’m excited to see what the studio delivers with this game, it has a ton of talent from the surrounding area, so we know a lot of the Santa Monica developers from other studios shifted over to The Initiative.
From Glen Schofield comes The Callisto Protocol, a new single-layer survival horror game from the creators of Dead Space. It will launch in 2022.

From Fullbright, the studio behind Gone Home and Tacoma, comes their next game Open Roads. The game is published by Annapurna Interactive and features the voice talent of Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever.

We got a look at Crimson Desert from South Korean developer Pearl Abyss.

Turtle Rock, the team behind Evolve and Left 4 Dead were at The Game Awards to reveal their new game, Back 4 Blood. You are at the center of a war against the Ridden. Ark 2 was revealed tonight and it features Vin Diesel? I don’t know how this happened but it’s in development over at Wildcard. There’s also going to be a new animated series coming and it has a star studded cast that includes Jeffrey Wright, Gerard Butler, Elliot Page, Russell Crowe and more.

Evil Dead: The Game was announced tonight and I’ll gladly take any content featuring Ash Williams since the cancellation of Ash vs The Evil Dead. It is currently in development on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and includes co-op and PvP action.
Capcom recently renewed the trademark for Ghosts ‘n Goblins and now we know why – a remake is coming and it is launching on Nintendo Switch on February 25, 2021. Paying homage to Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, the latest entry combines the franchise’s action platforming gameplay with storybook-like graphics and challenging new obstacles. The new entry will once again follow the valiant knight Arthur as he runs, jumps and battles his way through eerie stages set in the Demon Realm, a demonic fantasy world.
I’m hoping we get a remake of Maximo: Ghosts to Glory next.
Capcom also announced Capcom Arcade Stadium which is coming to Nintendo Switch as well. It will launch onw ith 32 action-packed classics, which includes a free download of 1943 – The Battle of Midway – and the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins as a stand-alone add-on.
Next, Microsoft confirmed that Microsoft Flight Simulator would finally arrive on Xbox next summer. In a post on Xbox Wire, the team working on the port iterated that the console version will include the same level of fidelity and all peripherals would work.
Super Meat Boy Forever is coming for us all on the Epic Games Store on December 23rd. This much anticipated sequel also moves the Meat Boy saga forward, as Meat Boy and his partner Bandage Girl have had a child, Nugget, who has unfortunately been kidnapped by the sinister stillborn psychopath, Dr. Fetus.
“Super Meat Boy was a massive success that changed my life forever and people had been clamoring for a sequel for ages,” said Team Meat co-founder and programmer Tommy Refenes. “But I didn’t just want to deliver more of the same and call it a day. Meat Boy deserved more than that. I wanted to rebuild Meat Boy from the ground up, in a way that would offer an entirely new experience that still hits all the same kinetic, addictive notes as its predecessor. I know Super Meat Boy Forever took forever to make but we’re confident that it was worth the wait.”

Monster Hunter Rise revealed a new trailer tonight at The Game Awards. The Nintendo Switch exclusive is really shaping up to be an exciting experience from the looks of it.
The video showcases two new monsters, several returning monsters and a new area for players to explore. The new trailer also reveals an early look at the mysterious “Rampage” events that threaten Kamura Village, the game’s primary location.
Be on the lookout for a demo out in January 2021.
Next, Hazelight was on hand as was Josef Fares to talk about their next game, It Takes Two. Play as the clashing couple Cody and May, two humans turned into dolls by a magic spell. Trapped in a fantastical world, they’re reluctantly challenged with saving their fractured relationship by the suave love guru Dr. Hakim. A huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges stand between them and their return to normal.
Among Us developer Inner Sloth was on hand to reveal their new map, the Airship. The studio also won two awards during the broadcast.
Next, we saw the second of two games from Focus Interactive and it is called Evil West. The game is developed by Flying Wild Hog and is set to launch in 2021.
