Xbox Series X
I think the biggest announcement revealed last night was the next-generation Xbox: Xbox Series X.
- The next console looks like a tower but according to Microsoft can be placed vertically and horizontally in your home. Whew!
- The new Wireless Controller looks the same but Microsoft says “Its size and shape have been refined to accommodate an even wider range of people, and it also features a new Share button to make capturing screenshots and game clips simple and an advanced d-pad derived from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller. The new Xbox Wireless Controller will be compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, and will be included with every Xbox Series X.”
- Technical details include the ability to play games in 4K at 60 frames per second (up to 120 frames per second) and up to 8K capability.
- Xbox Series X has a next-generation SSD that will virtually eliminate load times and bring players into their gaming worlds faster than ever before.
- Thanks to backward compatibility, you can expect your gaming legacy, thousands of your favourite games across four generations of gaming, and your Xbox One accessories work with the Xbox Series X
Senua’s Sage: Hellblade II
This is probably my favourite trailer out of all the ones we saw last night. Ninja Theory is returning to the world of Hellblade, and by looks of it is doing well with development thanks to Microsoft. According to Microsoft, this is all in-engine and I am floored by the technology. Microsoft confirms this is an Xbox/PC exclusive.
Godfall
Godfall is a third-person fantasy looter-slasher focused on melee combat, coming to PlayStation 5 Holiday 2020. Developed by Counterplay Games & published by Gearbox, this is the first game announced for PlayStation 5. It looks pretty neat, I’m looking forward to this.
Bravely Default II
A third entry for the series is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020. From the same team that worked on the Bravely series as well as the Octopath series, with music from Revo, who previously scored the Bravely Default soundtrack. Expect a brand new world, new Heroes of Light, and new mysteries.
Weird West
Not much to go on with Weird West, but it certainly looks intriguing “Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken—a series of high stakes stories where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own.”
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story
From Riot Games, a new game set within the League of Legends universe was revealed. It is a story-driven, turn-based role-
CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story

Players will explore the spectacular world of Zaun as Ekko, a young inventor with an ingenious device to manipulate time. Follow Ekko’s journey, a fan-favourite LoL Champion, as he discovers that the power to change time comes with many consequences.
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance
Developed by Tuque Games with backing from Wizards of the Coast, Dark Alliance is a spiritual successor to the same games originally found on PlayStation 2. This is a four-player co-op RPG that’s coming out Fall 2020 for consoles and PC. You can play as scimitar-wielding hero Drizzt Do’Urden or one of his unique companions Catti-Brie, Bruenor, or Wulfgar as they set out on an action-packed adventure in the icy tundra of Icewind Dale.
Prologue
A new game from Brendan Greene, but there is no information. A press release for Prologue is about as vague as the trailer. “With prologue, we are taking our first steps toward building new technologies and interactions that will help develop my ideas into reality.”
Fast & Furious Crossroads
https://youtu.be/sKfTkNMYq90
I’m excited to get into this one. Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez were on stage to talk about the game last night and this is a full-fledged entry in the series. Fast & Furious Crossroads story mode expands the Fast & Furious universe—with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson reprising their roles as Dom, Letty, and Roman in an action-packed adventure set across stunning global locations. Joining the cast are Sonequa Martin-Green and Asia Kate Dillon in unannounced roles.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
A character trailer for Cloud Strife, not much new in the trailer but it is pretty good.
Humankind
Humankind
In Humankind, you will play as an avatar that you create, customize and lead to make the largest mark on history.
As you progress through Amplitude’s brand new historical 4X strategy game, you’ll combine cultures through six different eras to build a civilization as unique as you are. The journey matters more than the destination, and no great deed will go unnoticed.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Rise Of The Phoenix
Four more X-Men join the alliance—Phoenix, Gambit, Ice Man, and Cable.
Magic: Legends
In Magic: Legends, become immersed in the acclaimed fictional Magic multiverse as a powerful, spell-wielding Planeswalker.
Maneater
In this single-player action-RPG, players must fight to survive as a baby bull shark. Torn from your mother’s belly, grow in power as you explore a wide range of underwater environments, from swamps and rivers to beachside resorts and the deep blue sea. Your only tools are your wits, your jaws, and the uncanny ability to evolve as you feed. Eat, explore, and evolve the ultimate killing machine in Maneater! Out on May 22, 2020.
Naraka Bladepoint
Not much is known, this is a multiplayer game from 24 Entertainment. “Mask of the Ancient God; absorbs blood through endless slaughter. YOU shall set foot in NARAKA.” The trailer is pretty bloody and it looks like spilling blood is a part of the gameplay.
Nine to Five
Nine to Five is a tactical first-person shooter where smart teamwork triumphs over brute force and reflexes. In the game’s near-future world, it’s the corporations that rule, and being a mercenary for them is just another job.
In Nine to Five, three teams of three players compete against each other over three intense rounds. Each round’s outcome influences how the next one starts, so if you want to complete the ever-changing objectives the corporations set you, you’ll need to constantly adapt your approach.
No More Heroes 3
No More Heroes 3 looks excellent in its first trailer, and is set for release exclusively to the Nintendo Switch in 2020!
Apex Legends Holo-Day Event
You’re invited to the Outlands’ biggest holiday bash, hosted by an extra festive Mirage! Drop onto the Mirage Voyage party boat, check out the celebration and try not to get shot – just like holidays with the fam. Then it’s all aboard the Winter Express, a brand-new mode where Legends battle it out to capture a special holiday train.
Sons of the Forest
A sequel to The Forest, an open-world survival game that released in 2014. No information on this title yet but the trailer certainly was haunting. This is developed by Endnight Games.
Surgeon Simulator 2
Arriving in 2020, the electrifying sequel that is Surgeon Simulator 2 promises to inject a delirious dose of adrenaline straight into the heart of the original, cranking everything up to a whole new level. Not to mention, throws in a handful (or four?) of surprises along the way!
The Wolf Among Us 2
