Even though Nintendo showed off some games coming to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in its usual “direct-to-consumer” style this past July, it wasn’t a regular Nintendo Direct we expected, opting for a third-party showcase instead. After rumours once again swirled that a September Nintendo Direct is happening, five months since the last traditional Nintendo Direct, the Mario company confirmed on its Nintendo Today! App, it would be hosting a Nintendo Direct today.
This isn’t your average Nintendo Direct. After skipping on doing a September Nintendo Direct last year for the first time since they started doing their own “direct” showcases, Nintendo announced that its next Nintendo Direct would be a whomping 60 minutes, showing off the upcoming game coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Before the direct presentation even started, a confirmation of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond‘s 2025 release date is speculated to be featured during the show, maybe even Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment too.
With today being the eve of Mario‘s 40th anniversary (September 13th), going into the Nintendo Direct, we are expecting Nintendo’s plumber mascot to get a lot of love, be it a collection of remastered games, the next 3D entry, or even a trailer for the next Mario movie coming this April. One of the rumours of this Nintendo Direct from leaker SwitchForce is that three games that are a seventh entry (jackpot) will have a presence at the show; a release date for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade could be one of them.
Anyway, let’s get into exactly what was shown. These games were showcased during today’s Nintendo Direct showcase on September 12th, 2025. As always, the Nintendo Direct recap will list each game chronologically as it appears in the presentation, alongside trailers and any release dates or windows announced during today’s Nintendo Direct. Now, let’s dive in!
