Now, if you had your ear to the ground, you would have heard of a rumoured Nintendo Direct presentation after Summer Game Fest, and that turned out to be true. Yesterday, the company announced it would host a 50-minute Nintendo Direct, alongside a 95-minute Nintendo Treehouse live stream that gives Nintendo fans a deeper look at some of the games featured in today’s Nintendo Direct.
Getting a traditional Nintendo Direct feels a bit of a long time as the last one we got was back in September where we got a look at new upcoming games coming like Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokém,on Pokopia, Pokémon Legends Z-A, Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, and more.
Back in February we got a Partner showcase edition of its Nintendo Direct that focused more on its third party partners coming to Nintendo Switch 2 with some indie releases sprinkled in. This nearly hour-long Nintendo Direct means we can finally get that first-party blowout that Nintendo Switch 2 owners have been waiting for to see what games from Nintendo, either new experiences or something familiar from Nintendo’s past, are coming.
With Star Fox coming to Switch 2 later this month, alongside that game, another remake of a beloved Nintendo 64 game was rumoured from NatetheHate a while back to be coming to Switch 2 this year too, with a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with even more from Nintendo leaked as well. It may not just be about first-party titles as other third party games seemingly have been holding Nintendo Switch 2 announcements back with the amount revealed through rating board listings.
