February is usually when we get our first Nintendo Direct to really kick off the year. Although., 2026 could break that tradition, instead of a full proper Nintendo Direct, we are getting a “Partner Showcase” that was initially leaked by NatetheHate and GameXplain with Nintendo itself confirming the event yesterday morning and that it would be 30 minutes long.
A Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase is a lot like a regular Nintendo Direct, but focus more on third-party releases coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and are Nintendo’s way of saying “don’t expect first-party games” to pop up during the show. That’s not to say don’t expect Nintendo IP to show up during the presentation, as third-party project partnerships in the vein of Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment or Pokémon Pokopia from Koei Tecmo are fair game.
A Partner Showcase at this time of the year is a great way to show how much more third-party developers, publishers, and indie studios are supporting the Switch followup which is over 17 million strong in less than six months. For the last Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase we got was back in July, well over a month following the Switch 2’s launch where we got looks at Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Octopath Traveler 0, Star Wars Outlaws, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, and many more games.
That’s the past, now let’s look to the future for what’s coming to both Switch consoles as I have recapped everything that was showcased during today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase for February 5th, 2026.
