ESL Brings esports To Mobile World Congress

ESL, the world’s largest esports company, is pleased to announce its presence at the premiere mobile industry event of the year, the GSMA Mobile World Congress. Taking place on March 2-5 in Barcelona, Spain, the Congress will play host to the ESL Arena – a one-day show taking to the stage on March 4, featuring a networking conference as well as both an amateur and a professional level League of Legends tournament with €3.000 and €12.000 in prize money, respectively.

The partnership between ESL and the Mobile World Congress is an exciting new step on the road to popularizing esports and spreading the phenomenon on to new territories. “The ESL Arena at the Mobile World Congress is a fantastic opportunity to bring esports to the mobile industry,” said Sebastian Radu, CEO at ESL Spain. “We’re very excited to see what opportunities will unfold for esports in the mobile sector, and we’re delighted to be the pioneers who take those first steps.”

The invitational League of Legends tournament will see two of the biggest professional Spanish teams, led by Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez and Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez Santiago, battle it out for the lion’s share of €12.000.
