Embracer Group Acquires Tripwire Interactive

The Embracer Group is on a roll tonight, revealing several studio acquisitions in addition to winning the IP rights to both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Now Tripwire Interactive has been added to the growing roster at Embracer Group as the company was purchased under Saber Interactive.

“Tripwire is a unique studio. Since their founding in 2005, they have grown, through tremendous leadership and vision, into one of the last great independent developers. I have looked up to Tripwire as an example of how to design and execute games. Saber has Tripwire to thank for many of our own successes and I am proud to welcome them into our family,” said Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive.

In addition to the studio, Embracer Group now owns the publishing division Tripwire Presents. Furthermore, Tripwire Interactive will operate as a subsidiary under the Saber Interactive operative group. Post-acquisition, the studio will “remain business as usual” with the team working on future projects.

Tripwire Interactive is known for Killing Floor, Rising Storm and more recently Maneater. The studio was founded in 2005 in Roswell, Georgia and has since then developed some successful titles. The Killing Floor series boasts over 35 million players, the Rising Storm series has over 14 million players and Maneater has over 16 million players.
