Eastward DLC Octopia Gets a Release Date for PC and Nintendo Switch, Launching on January 31st, 2024

No details on the expansion's Xbox release

During Wholesome Games’ Snack Game Awards edition presentation, publisher Chucklefish and developer Pixpil announced a release date for Eastward‘s upcoming DLC expansion, Octopia for PC and Nintendo Switch, launching early next year on January 31st, 2024. While Eastward is available on Xbox, the DLC wasn’t given a date for the Microsoft platform.

Rather than continuing the main game’s story, Octopia takes place in a parallel world where miasma never plagued the world of Eastward. Seeing where the DLC was shown off, this adventure is much more of a wholesome adventure as a player can experience Sam and John’s alternative story-driven farm-sim life. The characters are tasked with repairing and revitalizing the game’s setting of an old neglected farmland.

The only challenges they’ll face is managing a farm, which includes growing crops, tending to livestock, and, thanks to John’s Cookbook, cooking up some unique meals from the plant life that players will produce as Eastward farmers. That’s not all other activities outside of farming, including visiting fishing holes, chatting it up with ghosts, and meeting the main game’s familiar cast, but in much more relaxing circumstances. As time passes during the player’s farming life, new houses and shops are built, and those characters will slowly move in as new neighbours as you build up a community centred around your farm.

After picking up Eastward: Octopia, you can play the expansion from the start menu. Eastward first launched on PC and Nintendo Switch on September 16th, 2021 and was later released on Xbox One consoles on December 1st, 2022.
