EA Reveals New Sports FC Logo

Weeks after CEO Andrew Wilson announced layoffs were happening at EA amidst record profits, EA has gone ahead and revealed its newest logo for Sports FC. Following last year’s FIFA breakup, after an even greedier sports body wanted more money, EA said nope and broke away from the licence deal it’s held for decades.

Now, we’re getting a brand new series and EA promises we’ll be seeing more later this summer. Today via a blog post on the publisher’s website, we get a breakdown of how the new logo came to be. EA partnered with Uncommon Creative Studio to work on the logo, which is actually derived from the selected player icon in previous FIFA titles.

“The shape has also been woven into the DNA of EA SPORTS football experiences for decades; from the isometric angles of our very first 8-bit experiences and the triangular polygons that make up every pixel of our most modern games, as well the iconic player indicator symbol that appears above every athlete in every match. The triangle has been waiting patiently on the bench for over 30 years and it’s time to finally unleash it.”

Supposedly, this icon and the brand will debut in over 100 matches across the biggest leagues from around the world including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, WSL, NWSL and more.

It also appears that merchandise will be made available including scarves, jerseys, and stickers to start with more down the line.

More about EA Sports FC will be revealed in July, says EA. If all goes to plan we should expect to see EA Sports FC  launch in the fall when the yearly FIFA series annually hit shelves.
