New Dungeons and Dragons Game Being Developed By Gameloft Montreal

From the creators of Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the most extensive and long-running fantasy franchises is getting a new game from a Canadian studio. Gameloft Montreal has announced that it has licensed Dungeons and Dragons for a console and PC title.

Suppose you’ve never experienced a Dungeons and Dragons tabletop game or seen many podcasts or online communities based around the IP. You may recognize some rule sets in massive hits like Baldur’s Gate 3, Neverwinter Nights, or Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance. Each of these uses dice rolls, lore, and characters in their way, using the Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast IP.

The announcement comes from a studio that has seen some big success lately, as Gameloft Montreal is responsible for creating Disney Dreamlight Valley. We don’t know much about this new D&D game or if it’ll have any shared ideas or mechanics, but the studio has leaned more toward family-friendly gameplay over some of the games mentioned above that are based on the same franchise.

While it’s unclear exactly what the game will be, the image released today gives a small glimpse of a potential art style. In addition, we do know the new Dungeons and Dragons title will take place in the Forgotten Realms.

Gameloft Montreal also says that the game will be a co-op experience and blend elements of survival, “life simulation,” and action RPG.

No release date or window has been provided, but the Gameloft team does appear to be hiring for the upcoming game.
