The monthly information drop for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World has once again arrived, as Square Enix has shared new details about the game including even more details that introduces us to the upcoming Dragon Quest Monsters entry’s Quick Scouting mechanic and Joint battle plus the reveal of a brand new character and a trio of monsters, according to a press release.
The headline of the info drop is that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is getting a demo and is available starting today on all platforms. Players checking out the demo will be able to experience the game’s story from when the game’s dual female protagonists, Bianca and Nera, land in Witherwood and the first few events after their arrival. Progress made in the demo is transferable into the full game, including monsters you recruited in the demo will be available in your depot at level 1 with their talents and abilities at default states.
Those that transfer demo save date to the full game will also receive the demo Wrangler’s Bundle bonus, which comes with a Ring of Impulse (1), a Bonus Ball (1), and Smoked Sirloin (5) in-game items. Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and like other previous games in the spinoff series, is all about befriending wild monsters to join your team and help players on their journey. Ino order to recruit monsters, players would have to use the old faithful method of battling them and use a “Show of Force” to get them to join.
Now there is another, less violent and more simpler method with Quick Scouting. The mechanic allows you to bribe a monster onto your team by throwing a piece of meat at a monster to convince them with a percentage chance listed above. Now, a basic piece of meat might not get the job done every time, as the finer cut of meat you toss them, the better chance you’ll have at getting a monster to join your ranks in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World.
Players that play through Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will find themselves taking on a massive monster, and in order take down the boss, the two’s party of monsters will have to team up in a Joint Battle. The twist on the gameplay will see your main party either controlled by Bianca or Nera while the reserve party is controlled by the remaining protagonist with HP and MP bars shared between the two parties with the reserve party be able to use the tactics option to issue orders to the reserve party.
One gimmick of these massive monsters is Pet Hates, specific actions that commands them to rile them up and raise their rage gauge, which when full lets them unleash stronger attacks. That rage will go away and after they are tuckered out and can’t move giving both parties an opportunity to bring on and hopefully finish the fight.

A monster of the beast family clothed in traditional garb. Cross this panda’s path and you’ll soon learn how sharp its “walking stick” can be.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is launching for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 3rd, 2026 with physical versions of the game releasing at retail for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
