Square Enix revealed several new details about Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.
Today’s information links The Dark Prince to Dragon Quest IV: The Chapters of the Chosen, as several iconic locations will be visited as Psaro explores and works towards becoming the Master of Monsterkind.
What might surprise fans is that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince offers an alternate depiction of the events in The Chapters of the Chosen. You will see things unfolded from Psaro’s perspective and why he sword revenge against Randolfo the Tyrant, the current Master of Monsterking.
Psaro’s lineage is of note as he’s half-human via his mother, Miriam, while his father is Randolfo the Tyrant, making Psaro a demi-human and Prince of Nadiria, the world of monsters. One day, Mirim falls ill, and Psaro heads to Nadiria to ask for help from Randolfo, who inevitably turns his song away, cursing Psaro and leaving him unable to hurt anyone of monster kind.
As Psaro heads out to seek his revenge, he meets many faces, including:
- Dolph the Destroyer, Nadiria’s General and Randolfo’s eldest son. Dolph is powerful and said to be the successor to the Nadirian throne.
- The Zenith Dragon — a being who watched over the world’s affairs from Zenithia, a castle in the sky.
- Healie is a young boy who travels the world while looking for a lost companion.
- Ludo is a mysterious young man who enjoys poetry and appears at the oddest times.
- Percival is an army captain who is devoted to his king and will follow orders without a second thought.
- General Chayne is a keeper of the Diabolic Hall — a fortress known for its security.
- The Chosen Heroes of Dragon Quest IV — these heroes work against Psaro to save the world. However, their actions influence his story.
Players will also visit familiar locations from Dragon Quest IV:
- Rosehill — Psaro’s base of operations in the village of Rosehill is where monsters and dwarves live together. It’s a small place but is home to shops, a church, an Alter of Amalgamation and a place to rest.
- Diabolic Hall — A stronghold for monsters
- Zenithia — A castle in the sky where the Zenith Dragon resides.
Square Enix promises more locations from Dragon Quest IV will be available.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is available to pre-order for the Switch. Players who pre-order or pre-purchase the game will also receive the Head Start Set, which includes:
