Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Launches This November

Revealed today during Nintendo Direct, Square Enix is developing three Dragon Quest remakes including Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD-2D and Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D.

As a reimagining of the classic from the NES era and a prequel of the Erdrick trilogy, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D brings incredible, vibrant graphics to a new era of fans. The trailer reveals modernizations expected from today’s community by refining the experience.

The protagonist, a young hero from the village of Aliahan, embarks on a quest to defeat the evil Archfiend, Baramos, believed to be the ultimate threat. Along the way, the hero recruits companions. He explores a vast world, discovering new lands and conquering numerous challenges after being tasked to save the world by the king of Aliahan.

Square Enix says they’re working to improve and modernize the UI in addition to several quality-of-life improvements. The development team is refining the turn-based experience with new animations and enhancements, including adjustable battle speed, auto-battle, and more.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC on November 14, 2024.
