BioWare Dragon Age

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Has Been Renamed to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Gameplay Reveal and Other Details Coming on June 11th

It’s been some time since Dragon Age: Dreadwolf‘s reveal, but now the game’s actual name is a little dated. Publisher EA and developer Bioware have apparently rebranded the upcoming fourth Dragon Age, which is now known as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, according to IGN.

The apparent reason for the name change is to focus more on the party players will recruit throughout the game, a naming approach similar to Dragon Age: Inquisition. The actual Dreadwolf title from the initial reveal referenced Solas, a party member turned late-game villain from the third entry. Alongside the rename news, Like previously reported for this summer, we’ll be getting a deep dive into Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s first gameplay reveal on June 11th, which will be about 15 minutes long, so it will seemingly have a lot of substance to showcase this coming Tuesday. Dragon Age: The Veilguard‘s party will have seven companions.

“One thing that’s important to remind fans is that every Dragon Age game is a new and different experience, and this game, more so than ever, is about you and your companions – a group that you must rally to fight by your side. We can’t wait for players to meet, connect and form their own personal relationships with the unique companions that make up The Veilguard. That’s the spirit of this game…of this story. Choosing who will join you on your adventure, fight alongside you, and be there by your side in the end,” Bioware studio GM Gary McKay said in an interview with IGN.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard hasn’t been a talking point in the news officially by Bioware since its title was revealed at The Game Awards 2018, but multiple reports from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb have given fans some idea of where the game has been heading.  Grubb initially reported, via the VGC, that the game was targeting a September 2023 release, which obviously did not happen as the game’s targetted launch window was internally delayed to March 2024 and then later again to summer, then fall. While we still don’t know when the game will be released, an announcement next week is expected to confirm a 2024 release date.
