We just made it to a brand new month and publisher Bandai Namco is already hyping up anticipation for its big July release with a brand new gameplay trailer and screenshots of the upcoming game, Digimon Survive.
The 90-second trailer is more of a refresher that goes over what the part mystery visual novel game and part strategy Digimon RPG is all about including some tactical tips and equipment/tools players can use to turn a battle in their favour. Like similar games in the visual novel genre, your choices/responses will affect your relationship with other characters, both human and Digimon, the latter of which could lead to Digivolution. This can also relate to battle by talking to your Digimon companions which will help encourage and heal them, you can also hash it out with enemy Digimon in battle and if you say the right things they join your team
Digimon Survive players will be inserted into the shoes of the game’s protagonist, Takuma Momozuka. He alongside his friends gets lost during a school trip and is transported to a mysterious island where they’ll run into digital monster-like foes and comrades known as Digimon – sounds familiar doesn’t it? Players will have to find their way home by exploring their surroundings, talking to other characters to discover clues in any given area in the game’s world map, and fighting any enemy Digimon that they will eventually encounter.
The game was originally announced to release in July 2019 but has been delayed multiple times to 2020, 2021, and finally 2022 (hopefully) due to the game’s system, changing developer, and the COVID-19 pandemic. With all that said looks like Digimon Survive is set to release later this month on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on July 29th.
