Did Naughty Dog Steal Assassin’s Creed Art For It’s Trailer? UPDATED

Naughty Dog has released a story trailer for the last Uncharted game, A Thief’s End.

So far so good, right? Wrong. Assassin’s Creed head of content Azaïzia Aymar caught some familiar artwork in the newest trailer for Uncharted 4.

As you can see, the art in question is here:

And this is the artwork from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

Is this  a subtle nod to the Assassin’s Creed series, with animators who worked on both series now currently working on Uncharted?

UPDATE: Naughty Dog has swapped out the art in question and replaced the trailer with the one below. There is also a blurb about the mix up and an apology!

In our eagerness to get the story trailer out we made a regrettable mistake and didn’t thoroughly vet the art work used for an in game painting. We’ve already updated the trailer. We hold all artistry in high regard and take full responsibility for having allowed this to happen.

We want to sincerely apologize to everyone at Ubisoft, the Assassin’s Creed team, the original artist, and our fans.
