Diablo 4 Is Already Blizzard’s Fastest Selling Game Of All Time

Diablo 4 officially launches today, but over the game’s early access period, which kicked off this past Thursday, the new release is already Blizzard Entertainment’s fastest-selling game of all time, with the publisher revealing Diablo 4 had the highest pre-sale launch numbers across PC and console platforms to date, according to an announcement from the company via Business Wire.

The period to play the game early was an incentive for anyone who picked up the Deluxe or Ultimate edition. While we didn’t get actual sales numbers or how many players are playing, Blizzard did reveal that players have put a combined time of 93 million hours into the game since June 1st, which in time is about over 10,000 years of Diablo 4 being played accumulative over the last five days; a pretty impressive stat. Now that the game has officially been released to standard edition users, it’s hard to imagine that number not going up even more as time passes.

“This is a moment years in the making for the Diablo 4 team. We’re extremely proud to offer players the richest story ever told in a Diablo game. Players have a range of choices, including personal character customization, equipping personalized skills for battling horrific demons or collecting Legendary loot to support your playstyle while discovering new ones. Since the game was first announced in 2019, the support from millions of players around the world drove us toward this release of our dark vision of Sanctuary. Hail Lilith, Blessed Mother,” Diablo general manager, Rod Fergusson said in a press release. “

Diablo 4 takes place 50 years after Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and opens up with Lilith herself being summoned to the mortal realm. On the technical side, Diablo 4 features cross-platform play and cross-progression with online co-op with up to four players, plus a two-player couch co-op on the console. Diablo 4‘s release doesn’t end there, as Blizzard plans to support the game in seasonal content and is working on two upcoming expansions, according to Fergusson during an interview with Kinda Funny Games’ Xcast.

Diablo 4 is available to play solo and in co-op on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
