Fever dream publisher Devolver Digital has announced they married the Croatian developer, Croteam, in a quiet ceremony. The acquisition comes as Serious Sam 4 has recently launched on Google Stadia last month.
Croteam, which is best know for Serious Sam and the excellent puzzler The Talos Principle, has been around for 30 years. Hailing from the capital, Zagreb, the team has gone on to deliver several hits but before that, getting a publisher to sign Serious Sam was like pulling teeth, and only one group of developers agreed. This group eventually became Devolver Digital.
“A decade ago Devolver Digital was just getting started and looking for its first project to partner on in the emerging digital distribution world. Similarly, Croteam was on the search for a partner it could trust to help them bring their beloved franchise back to prominence with the upcoming Serious Sam 3. And like that, the next big Serious Sam game brought old partners back together and forged a decade of friendship and dedication.”
Hearing how the two companies have flourished together, this move makes perfect sense and now, all that’s left is for Croteam to get me a sequel to The Talos Principle.
