Destiny 2: Lightfall’s Trailer Strands On Its Own Merits

Destiny 2‘s latest trailer puts the focus on the new set of powers Guardians will unlock later this month when Lightfall arrives on all platforms.

The trailer focuses on the Strand powers that the three classes will be able to harness. Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters will become even more powerful, but the newest blog post from Bungie breaks down the new Strand powers.

Strands can harness the very fabric of the universe to deal with the newest threat. You’ll need every advantage as players head to Neptune and visit the city of Neomuna. Being able to grapple across not only the city but also enemies makes for some exciting encounters.

The same post details some of the vocabularies behind Strand. Creating an object using Strand is called ‘weaving,” defeating an enemy affected by Strand ‘unravels’ them, creating a Tangle. This is left behind when an enemy is defeated and a Tangle can explore when shot at, causing an area of effect explosion.

Debuffs have three terms to remember, too.

  • Suspend – A suspended PvE enemy is lifted off the ground for a brief duration and is essentially disabled. In PvP, suspended players are lifted off the ground but can still move (albeit slowly) and fire their weapon to fight back.
  • Unravel – Attacking an unraveled enemy will cause threads to burst out of the target and attack other nearby targets. Once hit, that target will also become unraveled.
  • Sever – A severed enemy is less capable of affecting the material world, reducing their damage output as a result.

Warlocks will also gain access to the Broodweaver class, capable of using Threadlings, minions capable of devastating enemies. Hunters gain access to the Threadrunner class, taking mobility and speed to a new level. Titans gain access to the Berserker class, capable of dealing massive damage to enemies.

All of these new changes sound incredible and we’ll find out more when  Destiny 2: Lightfall launches on February 28, 2023.
