Today’s State of Play had several games shown but the upcoming Death Stranding Director’s Cut revealed a release date and it’s coming soon.
While the reveal last month during Summer Games Fest was more of a teaser than anything, today we got our first look at what the Director’s Cut will include and how much it’ll cost when it launches. It’s enough to have me excited that’s for sure and I’m looking forward to returning to this macabre world of supernatural beings and babies in jars.
On the PlayStation Blog, Jay Boor, Head of Publishing at Kojima Productions went through some of the new content that we’ll get including “weapons, equipment and vehicles, a variety of new modes, missions and areas to explore, expanded storylines, and enhancements to the UI,” with new online features and even leaderboards.
Boor mentions that all the content shown was developed from the ground up, being developed after launch as a way to expand the world while enhancing the core game experience. Your save data will transfer over from the PlayStation 4 version, so if you’ve already finished the game, you can return to the same data.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut will have PlayStation 5 features including:
- DualSense haptic feedback
- Adaptive trigger resistance
- 3D Audio support
- Near-instant load times
- Performance Mode with upscaled 4K and up to 60FPS or Fidelity Mode in native 4K – both with ultra-wide and HDR support
If you own the game already, you can purchase the Death Stranding Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe for $10 US or $13 CAD.
