Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Delivers Wonderfully Weird Trailer

At today’s PlayStation State of Play livestream, Hideo Kojima was introduced and brought an excitingly weird new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

Death Stranding 2 unveiled

The trailer opens with Fragile, a supporting character in Death Stranding, performing surgery on someone. These days, I am Fragile in name only,” she says before a wave of cutscenes unravels on screen.

We can see Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker return to Hideo Kojima’s world. However, they are joined by newcomers Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and director George Miller. Head-On director Fatih Akin plays the sentient puppet shown.

A lot is going on in this trailer, and I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around all of it. I will have to watch the trailer at least a dozen times before I can say I can understand it and a few more times after that to spot Easter Eggs.

Higgs returns and uses a pretty cool, electrified, and bladed guitar against a cyborg samurai. BB-28 returns and has a mechanic drone now, too. There’s too much happening in the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach trailer but it is incredible.

Kojima is joined by longtime collaborator Yoji Shinkawa, who will direct character and mechanical design, with Ludvig Forssell and Kyle Cooper as musical director and title designer.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch for PlayStation 5 in 2025.
