Day of the Devs Summer Game Fest Edition (2026)

Recapping Day Of The Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition 2026

Double Fine and iam8bit invited press to check out this year’s Day of the Devs, centred around Summer Game Fest. Last year, we had a ton of exciting indie games revealed, and some have launched to success, including Sword of the Sea, Mixtape, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Off.

This year, Tim Schafer, Amanda White, Lauren Scott, James Spafford, and Greg Rice walked us through new games we can expect to see in the coming months and years. As a reminder, Day of the Devs is now a non-profit that curates indie games showcasing diversity worldwide.

Through sponsorships and donations, Day of the Devs can continue to deliver exciting titles to everyone. You can donate here.

Blood Dungeon

Messhof Games, the studio behind Nidhogg, returns with Blood Dungeon, a silly, weird little game that’s chaotic and colourful. The game is about routing through levels, which weapons work, and discovering which character works for you in each level.

It will be out later this summer.

Tenebris Somnia

Saibot Studios revealed Tenebris Somnia, and it’s part pixel-horror, part live-action horror film. The studio says the story follows Yulia suffering nightmares of her ex-boyfriend being killed. However, it turns out that what she was seeing was real is now trapped.

With assistance from New Blood, Saibot Studio says they filmed all the live-action sequences in Argentina, and many of the monsters shown in pixel form also appear in those sequences. Using real and digital effects for these sequences, the studio confirms no Gen AI was used.

Tenevris Somnia launches on October 16, 2026.

Mr. Records

Glee Cheese revealed its next game, Mr. Records. It is about a man named George, who can listen to a record and travel through music after hearing the first few notes. He reacts rhymically to the music, and there is a range of music and gameplay to experience.

When he doesn’t explore records, he runs a record store, and you must manage the store, understand the customers’ needs, and help them with their music choices. Selling records lets you purchase new music to explore. You can select over 45 songs, each with a rating, and the studio recorded all of the songs in-game.

33 Immortals

Thunder Lotus returns to Day of the Devs with 33 Immortals, a roguelike for 33 players in which you rebel against God alongside other players. The game is about co-operation, so you’ll need to work with others to win.

33 Immortals is out on June 10, 2026.

Dreadmoor

A first-person fishing adventure in a world where a catastrophe has changed the land, water, creatures, and the people who survived. Now it is a dark, dangerous, flooded place, and you, as the player, must travel by fishing boat to survive.

You must ensure your boat is fueled and repaired, and you can also walk on land to meet other people.

Fishing is crucial to the experience, so you’ll check the water, cast your line, and wait to see what bites.

Every type of creature needs a unique way to catch them, the right road, bait, timing, and some need a completely different way. And if you want to catch the rarest of creatures, you’ll need to be at the right place at the right time. Anything you catch can be sold to traders or broken down to use for crafting. You can also scavenge and salvage materials that you find.
Dreadmoor aims for a Q4 2026 release.

Threads of Time

Toronto’s Riyo Studio revealed a new look at Threads of Time, including a first look at the player’s ship, the Needle.

The Needle lets you navigate time periods to recruit party members to restore the fallen Time Knights. You can head to the future or the past and see dinosaurs, and even prevent their extinction to see them evolve over time.

Combat is turn-based, and each character manipulates time in their own way with a goal of interrupting enemies’ attacks. How you bend time is key.

N PLUS INFINITY TIMES TWO

Metanet Software revealed its next game, N Plus Infinity Times Two, an online multiplayer focused on platforming. It’s similar to the studio’s previous games but with its own distinct take.

There is a momentum-based experience here with parkour platforming, where you play as a ninja who moves through various levels. Metanet Software says its next game is not just about the single-player experience, although it will have a solo campaign. The focus is on platforming with your friends. The gameplay has five game modes to play with your friends.

Into the Unwell

Swdiesh developer. She Was Such A Good Horse revealed Into the Unwell, a roguelike for up to three players set in a strange rubber-hose world.

It is here you’ll take on enemies and embark on a quest to fight your way through the Unwell, including bosses, quirky characters, and more.

Into the Unwell is aiming for a 2027 launch.

Bub

Paperfrog’s Bub was at Day of the Devs. It’s set in New York City, and Bub is an artist who brings the player into his memories and art. You can be in NYC one minute before landing in a school hallway.

One of Bub’s creators was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and lost his dexterity, much of his vision, and it was hard to work on the game. He and his partner focused on getting better over time.

The developers say Bub is a hopeful story about drawing connections between one’s own hardships and difficulties and using that to connect with other people.

Bub is out in 2027.

Lazy River

Lazy River is a co-op first-person shooter set in Galaxy’s most unregulated water park, Water Station 1. Mike Boxler, the creator, says that the park is connected by an infinite lazy river that runs the length of the park. And the park uses special space water, which apparently you shouldn’t pee in.

The reason? You turn into a zombie if you fall into the water. So you and three friends now have to face zombies stuck in the water park with you.

You can build a raft which turns into your base. You can leave the raft to gather materials and then outsmart the zombies. You can fight them with pool noodles, water guns, and water balloons.

Lazy River launches in Early Access in 2027.

Prove You’re Human

Vancouver’s Sunset Visitor is back with a follow-up to 1000x Resist. Prove You’re Human is set in a digital world with hills, fields, and a lone tree that looks a lot like the default Windows XP wallpaper from back in the day. Players will split their focus between the game’s digital avatar and Mesa, a corporate product being tested out.

Daniel Beaulieu, an artist at Sunset Visitor, showed off the work underway on Mesa, the in-game AI. The focus is on the complexity in the animation system so Mesa can hit specific poses and expressions.

The team is working on making a Mesa feel real, whether that means being sepentine, robotic, organic, or unhinged.

Ithaca

The Pixel Hunt’s Ithaca is a narrative road-trip RPG. You play as Penelope, a 30-something environmental rights lawyer who has spent the last decade trying to sue big polluting companies but has failed.

One day, she hops into her car and drives to Ithaca, where she is supposed to meet her friends from the Earth Protection Association. However, she’s kidnapped a petroleum executive, and he’s locked in her trunk. So you’ll witness her story unfold as she tries to pretend everything is fine.

You use experience points to shape her personality, and depending on the skills, can help her pass or fail checks that open new narrative branches.

Ithaca is set to launch in late 2027. You can check out the game’s Kickstarter here. Playtest on Steam.

Screenbound

Crescent Moon Games is working on Screenbound. You play as someone searching for their mother. The Qboy, a strange device found in your mom’s garage, is unlike any other.

The Qboy splits reality so you’ll see dual worlds around you, where the device’s 2D screen and 3D world coexist, and you control both.

There are puzzles to solve and momentum-based gameplay to challenge you as you move through a colourful, unknown world. There are cartridges you can discover that shift perspectives from side-scroller to top-down adventure.

Screambound launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC on September 10, 2026.

A demo is out now on Steam.

Shot One Fighters

Red Moon Workshop revealed Shot One Fighters, a 2.5D roguelite fighting game. You pick your fighter, build the moveset and gain power. There are cursed artifacts to discover, too.

Apple Crumble

Happy Broccoli Games revealed Apple Crumble, a new interactive mystery thriller inspired by Murder on the Orient Express and Knives Out.

During your grandmother’s 84th birthday, you learn that someone in your family is trying to murder her. So you’ll have to figure out if it’s your mother, uncle, sister, or someone else entirely.

The developers call the game a” creepy, cozy walking sim,” where you can rummage through your family’s belongings and uncover the secrets they’re hiding from you.

Slap Out of It!

Turbo Button’s Slap Out of It! kicks off with a Verso-coded narration by Ben Starr before the mood shifts. This is a puzzle game with a big sandbox of secrets to uncover while you solve thinking puzzles.

You’re recruited to solve problems for those who hire you. Whether that means tutoring, junk removal, guard duty, plumbing, tech support, or something else entirely.

The developer says that slapping is how you interact with everything around you, and everything and everyone reacts to your slaps. You can explore buildings, each floor a gateway to a different world.

Super Yooka-Laylee Kart

Playtonic Games revealed a surprise near the end of the show: Super Yooka-Laylee Kart. Shifting from platforming to kart racing, Yooka and Laylee are back and ready to take it to the race track.

Playtonic called the game “high-speed, high-skill, pixel-perfect racing showdown,” and the trailer shows it in action. It’s filled with items, perks, and many tracks.

The team says they want to inject classic fun and character-driven magic back into the industry. Super Yooka-Laylee Kart is easy to pick up but still offers a challenge to genre veterans.

Into the Fire

Starward Industries is working on Into the Fire, a “cataclysm extraction survival game” in which you explore ever-changing terrain and battle volcanic demons.

The planet continually shifts, the ground moves, and the island changes every time players head out. There are cults, fire and ash, and danger everywhere.

Trine 6: Together in Time

Cool Down Games is back with Trine 6: Together in Tim. The co-op puzzle platformer requires your skills, wit, and timing to solve puzzles and take on enemies.

Up to four players can work together to explore the world of Trine.

You won’t have to wait too long for the next game, either. Trine 6: Together in Time launches on September 17, 2026.

When Sirens Fall Silent

Italian developer LKA is back with When Sirens Fall Silent. Set in Italy in the 1990’s, you play as Mila, a policewoman thrown into a high-profile kidnapping case. What unfolds compels her to protect herself as she tries to uncover the truth and survive a vortex of violence and confusion.
