THQ Nordic is publishing Darksiders Genesis, a Diablo-style spinoff in development over at Airship Syndicate. Using a top-down perspective for up to four players while dungeon crawling and solving puzzles sounds like a blast. This is a huge departure from the third-person action-adventure the series is known for but having seen the trailer, this is a perfect fit for the series.
As for what the game is about, Strife “is called upon to save humankind from certain destruction at the hands of Lucifer,” and “intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell.”
With the reveal for Darksiders Genesis comes a new Horseman of the Apocalypse: Strife and he has some swagger to him judging from the trailer. The only news confirmed from the trailer is that Genesis is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia.
