CD Projekt RED Announces Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion, Phantom Liberty for Next Year
Only Releasing for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S Versions
It looks like we finally got an official name for CD Projekt RED’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion during a Night City Wire Livestream which they are titling ‘Phantom Liberty’ and is set to release sometime in 2023 but only on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. Not including the late 2020 game’s many updates that helped fixed the game following Cyberpunk 2077‘s rush to launch, Phantom Liberty is set to be the first major addition of new content to the game.
In anticipation of the expansion, developer CD Projekt RED has released a short teaser trailer of Phantom Liberty to give fans a better idea of the game alongside some story details. The expansion will see Keanu Reeves make his return as Johnny Silver in the expansion who warns protagonist, V that it was probably a bad idea to take an oath with the New United States of America.
“Johnny Silverhand is coming back and so am I. Get ready for ‘Phantom Liberty,’ the upcoming expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s awesome to be back playing the role of Johnny and I hope you’re excited to see him rock it out once more in the dark future. Keep an eye out for more info and I’ll see you again in Night City,” Reeves said in a video message
As a part of the announcement, the developer’s support of Cyberpunk 2077‘s PS4 and Xbox One console versions will end with the Edgerunners Update, so as far as consoles go the upcoming expansion will be an exclusive experience for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners. It’s not all bad as the upcoming patch 1.6 is releasing today and will give players new equipment as will be seen in the upcoming Netflix anime series, Cyberpunk Edgerunners which is releasing next week on the streaming service.
Until then Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
