Cyberpunk 2077 is Delayed Again

By now, you’ve likely read the news; Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed… again. But just in case you haven’t, I’ll summarize it for you.  We are currently in between generations of consoles. As such, CD Projekt Red is announcing that the fact that they must consider releasing their highly-anticipated, yet highly-delayed game for nine different platforms and consoles, during a pandemic nonetheless, means that they are going to need a delay of 21 days to ensure that they release the perfectly polished game they have spent years working on. The game is now set for release on December 10th — putting it a few weeks behind the next-gen console launch window, but also putting it in a great position to dominate Christmas 2020.

Now, I am perfectly happy to give the Polish developer all the time they need, if only because it also gives me more time to jump into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and some of my backlog. It’s also fair to take them at their word and realize that in the time it’s taken to release this game, a whole generation of consoles has gone by. Oh, and we have Stadia now as well! I worry about those on the dev team’s health and well-being as I am reading about whether or not this means there will be a crunch on crunch, but I can’t be sure of that at this point.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
