While this post is focusing on the newest Night City Wire showcase, recent allegations against CD Projekt Red have surfaced again, with crunch being a huge issue at the studio. As excited as I am to dive into Cyberpunk 2077, it is best to keep in mind that the developers are working in an unhealthy environement and one that needs to be addressed through the proper channels.
Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire focused on the cars you’ll be able to use to get around the city. The video, dubbed Rides of the Dark Future, showcases several classes of cars and bikes you can use.
The studio has put a lot of work into the cars, and you can see that work in all the various cars, their interiors and details found across the fleet of vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077. There are also various classes including, Economy, Executive, Heavy Duty, Sport, and Hypercar.
For the Economy class of cars, don’t expect much, these are function over anything else and really only get you from one place to another. There’s no augmentions or luxurious materials found here. “It’s not the size that counts, I guess.” You’re right, and that’s very true.
The Executive class of cars are meant to impress. We see Villefort, Chevillon brands in the video and these cars spare no expense when purchasing them. They have some cushy interiors and speak volumes about status in Night City.
The Heavy Duty vehicles are masterfully engineered and include practical design. These are perfect for when you need power and brute force. We see Kaukaz and Militech vehicles in the video and they are unstoppable when put to work.
The Sport vehicles are the most exciting and these we see Quadra and Mizutani brands of vehicles. These are meant for street life and racing across Night City, even running from the NCPD. Each car is customizable, too.
Lastly, the Hypercar is the best in class and offer the most luxurious rides. These include the Herrera and Rayfield brand of vehicles and use the most expensive materials.
It also looks like Porsche is working with the team over at CD Projekt Red to give Johnny Silverhand his own car. They’ve teased the collaboration on Twitter.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches November 19, 2020.
