When the original Crash Team Racing launched back in 1999, never featured any sort of customization. While inherently isn’t an issue, it’s now a thing you can do when Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled launches next month. Its time to rev your engines and think about what your version of Crash might look like or what kart Coco uses.
My brother received this game as a birthday gift on his sixth birthday, and I remember coming back from watching Toy Story 2 in theatres, we rushed to the family room to get this gem into our PlayStation. It’d stay the system for some time because of how much fun we had playing with our little neighbourhood squad. So, when they announced a new remake was in the works, it was always something I knew I’d want to grab on day one.
With customization now on the table, it’s a way for players to mix up and match kart bodies, wheels, paint, stickers, and decals! It’s about creativity and looking fly as you coast past opponents to first place. Then by doubling down on the ability to customize racers to your heart’s content? I’m ecstatic!
Thanks to Beenox, I’m able to customize Tiny Tiger, Crash, Coco, and whoever else I want. Some skins even feature their own custom podium animation, so be on the lookout for that!
Players will earn customization items by playing through the Adventure Mode and also by collecting in-game Wumpa Coins to swag out their kart and characters in the game’s Pit Stop area. What’s more, character stats, just as you remember are returning and will include Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled races onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, on June 21.
