Crunchyroll Launches Second Round 2024 Anime Awards Performances And Presenters

The spotlights are all turning on in the lead-up to Crunchyroll‘s annual celebration of the best Anime has to offer this past year.

Today, we have a series of new updates on the March 2nd awards show.

First up, the show is announcing three stellar musical guests!

Deadly duo YOASOBI will be flying on by. It remains to be disclosed if they’ll do so in a giant mech, but my money is on a performance of “Shukufuku” from 2022’s  Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.

Shing02 joins OMA and SPIN MASTER A-1 for an extra exceptional performance. Could it have to do with a certain Shamploo turning 20?

In case the musical acts from above aren’t enough of an indication, music is an integral part of anime. in an age of shows and movies with openings short enough that the “skip” button won’t cause buffering, anime has held onto the long, evocative and musically-backed intros. So it’s time that their awards show gets a theme!

New this year, producer Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Solo Leveling) and composer Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins) will connect to open the show with the “Crunchyroll Anime Awards Theme.”

Regarding the awards themselves, we already knew we were in for a star-studded show. However, presentations just got a little more starlight outside the anime world. Wrestling legend Mercedes Varnado. Could Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Lawrence show up as a Deimon Devil Bat? What are the odds of actress, singer, and model Chiaki Kuriyama appearing in the iconic Kill Bill Jumper?

The Anime Awards will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with a live ceremony hosted by renowned voice actress Sally Amaki and popular entertainer Jon Kabira. Fans can watch the Anime Awards livestream on Crunchyroll channels on YouTube and Twitch beginning at 4 AM EST. To relive the action — after some sleep — fans can tune in for reruns starting March 16th on the 24/7 Crunchyroll linear channel on Amazon FreeVee, LG Channels, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel and VIZIO WatchFree+.
