Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos

Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos Announced

Argonaut Games is working on Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, a remaster of the 1999 platformer Croc 2.

The remaster has been given a new (old) name and includes enhanced visuals and quality-of-life improvements, as well as restoring the game’s original development title and adding over 40 expanded 3D platforming levels.

Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos sees the titular Croc return to search for his parents. His journey leads to an encounter with Baron Dante, who’s been resurrected by the Dantinis and now wants revenge. Croc’s new journey takes him to four new villages as he rescues the Gobbos and faces the guardians, including Soveena the Squid.

Croc’s moves are back, including the jump and tail-spin, but now include a triple jump. He can also ride a series of vehicles, including minecarts, race cars, speedboats, and a hang glider, and take to the skies in a wooden airplane.

“We’ve made no secret of the fact that if Croc did well in the market, the obvious next project would be to remaster Croc 2,” said Mike Arkin, co-CEO of Argonaut Games. “Croc’s successful return exceeded what we hoped for, and that made the decision easy. Croc 2 was originally built on a totally different engine to Croc, posing its own set of remastering challenges, but the early work we did to validate our approach paid off.”

The Crocipedia from the remaster returns, and Argonaut Games is working to bring a new digital museum called the Croc2pedia, offering behind-the-scenes looks at the game’s development, including developmental materials, cut content, and interviews with the original and remaster teams.

“Croc 2 was always the plan, once we saw how fans embraced the first remaster,” said Jez San OBE, Argonaut’s founder. “It’s a real pleasure to see the next chapter in Croc’s story brought to today’s modern platforms, and I can’t wait for both longtime fans and new players to experience it in glorious HD.”

Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos launches digitally for Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Switch in the Q4 2026 release window.
