Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert Drops New Massive Patch, Brings In Difficulty Modes And More

Crimson Desert continues its absolutely breakneck patch pace, with another huge update released today. The latest update, v1.04, brings in a number of changes that Pearl Abyss had outlined in a state-of-the-game update a few weeks ago.

Many of these items were scheduled to be addressed through June, with patch 1.04 already addressing a number of them.

The latest update has a lot to it. Some highlights include new difficulty modes, with players now able to choose among Easy, Normal, and Hard. New skills for Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka have been added, including ones that let Damiane and Oongka do more in the open world. Housing and storage got a huge overhaul as well, now letting the player store items in dedicated chests and increasing house size as you upgrade the camp. Part of this is the ability to craft straight from storage, which is a huge boon. A number of UI, control, and accessibility improvements have also been added, along with visual upgrades and platform-specific optimizations. The full patch list can be found here.

We’ve loved Crimson Desert, giving the game a 9, saying that “Crimson Desert is an overwhelming experience. It’ll leave you thinking about a view from a mountaintop, celebrating a brutal boss fight, digging in and learning a new system even 45 hours in. It is not, and won’t be, for everyone. The barrier to entry is high, but as you settle in, learn, and adapt, you’ll be rewarded with a deep, engaging experience that keeps you guessing. Even if there are issues, they quickly get lost in the sea that is Crimson Desert, momentary waves in a breaking wake of wonder and excitement. Crimson Desert gets better as it goes, and those looking for a new world to live in for hundreds of hours should look no further than Pywel.”

Crimson Desert is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Mac.
