Control’s Roadmap Revealed, Alan Wake Teased

For many, Control has become a breakout hit and risen to be one of the best games of the year. For good reason, as Remedy created an elusive world full of wonder and mystery but at the same time something dastardly and scary. It’s why I loved the game so much – the world was just so damn scary but I couldn’t stop wondering where I was going to go next within The Oldest House.

Thankfully, our time with Bureau of Control is far from over and as it stands, we’ll be wandering the ever-changing halls in search of more secrets as Remedy plans on expanding the new hit on their hands well into 2020. Today, the studio revealed an updated roadmap and that includes free downloadable content and a Photo Mode to kick things off.

First off, Photo Mode is coming this fall for console owners, followed by a new game mode in December called Expeditions. These challenging end-game activities involved Jesse and Security Chief Arish exploring the mysterious Formation and its surroundings. Remedy touts the hardest challenges lie within the Formation and requires the best gear and abilities to survive. This is a free mode for all players.

In 2020, two paid expansions are expected: The Foundation and AWE arriving in mid-2020. Both of these will offer new story missions, enemies, and game mechanics, and take place in new locations within the Oldest House.

The Foundation will delve into the history of the Oldest House. At the request of the ever-mysterious Board, Jesse must explore what lies beneath the Bureau as she returns order to the Foundation and the Oldest House itself. Expect things to get weird.

The second expansion, AWE, will take Jesse into a new part of the Oldest House, the Investigations Sector, where the Bureau closely examines Altered World Events.

Within the narrative, Altered World Events (AWE) make up strange occurrences within the world of Control.  A prime example being the events of Alan Wake, which were alluded to within The Oldest House at various points and at least confirming both games are within the same universe.
