Revealed at today’s State of Play, Control Resonant debuts its first look at gameplay for the next game from Remedy Entertainment.
“Control Resonant isn’t an open-world game, but it is built around large, distinct, and expansive zones filled with side activities, hidden encounters, and optional discoveries. A strong, central narrative guides you through the world, while still leaving room to explore and uncover what’s been left behind in the chaos. The West Incursion Zone is a good example of this approach, gradually becoming more distorted as architecture folds in on itself, and gravity behaves unpredictably,” says Sergey Mohov, Senior Game Designer at Remedy Entertainment.
We see Dylan talking to Zoe De Vera, an FBC Field Agent. Zoe is Dylan’s handler and provides guidance and context on ongoing events in the city.
As Manhattan becomes more twisted, traversing zones becomes harder for Dylan. His abilities, such as Reach, allow him to navigate spaces that no longer follow the laws of physics. Areas where gravity and orientation shift entirely are called Gravity Anomalies, and Shift allows Dylan to fly.
Dylan wields the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon, key to your arsenal. We see it transform into a hammer, blade, scythe, and fists, allowing for a versatile toolkit. Progression leans into unlocking new Aberrant forms, abilities, and combos with deeper customization systems to specialize powers and moves.
We also met the Resonants, powerful bosses who are remnants of those who once held power and are now corrupted by a mysterious force threatening reality.
