Clint Hocking, Director of Assassin’s Creed: Hexe, Leaves Ubisoft

The Ubisoft shakeups continue after Marc-Alexis Côté unexpectedly departed the company last month. Now, another longtime employee has quietly left after new franchise leaders for Assassin’s Creed were revealed.

According to VGC, Clint Hocking, the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Hexe, has left Ubisoft. Hocking has worked on numerous major Ubisoft titles over the years, serving as creative director on Far Cry 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and Watch Dogs: LegionHocking’s departure continues a very public reset at the company, as it continues to restructure around its central titles.

“We sincerely thank [Clint] for his vision, creative contributions, and dedication over the years, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter,” a spokesperson for Ubisoft tells VGC. “Development on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe continues with a seasoned team.

Hocking has worked on Hexe since at least 2022 when Ubisoft revealed the game’s existence alongside Shadows and Jade. One game launched last year and proved successful for the company while the other, a mobile game, hasn’t been seen in some time. The next game is supposedly a narrative departure for the series and it is reported set to launch in 2027 and is set  in the “latter stages of the Holy Roman Empire,” with Ubisofts Montreal studio leading development on the project following Quebec’s lead on Shadows.

Development on Assassin’s Creed Hexe will continuewith Jean Guesdon taking over as creative director. Guesdon is the current head of content for Assassin’s Creed as a whole.
