Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector Will Hit Game Pass Day One

The original title will also remain on Game Pass

The… sleeper… indie hit from 2022 is getting a sequel called Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector and it’s on its way to Game Pass once again. The news comes during the Gamescom Xbox Showcase where developer Gareth Damian Martin revealed both exciting announcements.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will take players to a new location and once again put them in the body of a Sleeper, an escaped corporate-owned android trying to build a new life for themselves. This time, however, players will have a ramshackle ship and a crew they’ve recruited, both of which they will need to steer through a system-wide crisis.”

Wake Up Sleeper

The game will take place on Hexport, a facility that’s built on three solar reflectors. It’s split into three separate areas as well: Exchange, The Bends, and Factory Row. Each with their own small communities and personalities you’ll have to navigate. Just like its predecessor, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector will have you building relationships with any and all around you in order to stay a step ahead and survive in deep space. The announcement videos dig a little deeper into the setup of this new title, including a look at Hexport itself.

A big difference this time around, you’ll have your own ship and crew as you head out to complete contracts. Martin even drops some big time inspiration when it comes to storytelling saying, “it’s my attempt to capture what’s special about stories like Cowboy Beebop and Firefly… it’s about getting into trouble with a complex cast of characters and improvising… always running on the edge of disaster.”

New Content Into 2024

Helion Dispatches are a series of extra content drops that were announced earlier this year. Series’ fans can dig into monthly, text based “narrative transmissions from the refugee ship, the Pilgrim Seed, which flesh out the wider lore of Citizen Sleeper, set up the narrative for the sequel and bridge the gap between the two games.”

The development team says these expanded universe stories will continue until at least the middle of 2024.

There’s no set release date just yet for Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, but based on the timing of the Helion content, it may not be hitting Game Pass and storefronts until the middle of next year.
